The annual music conference, Moshito, started at Museum Africa in Newtown, Johannesburg, yesterday. It ends on Saturday.
As usual, the event will feature exhibitions by companies, debates and music workshops.
Arnold Mabunda, chairman of Moshito, and deputy chairman of the National Organisation for Reproduction Rights, says: "We are extremely proud of this year's programme as well as the fringe events that will take place around Moshito.
"We are thrilled that we are getting media support from the SABC and Independent Newspapers that will give the event the profile it deserves."
The exhibition element of Moshito 2007 has been enhanced this year with companies such as SABC, Gallo Record Company, EMI/CCP Record Company. Several other music industry organisations will also participate.
David Mutiiri, from Kenya, will be the guest this year. He is expected to share his insights into the breakaway session on "Strengthening Trade in Africa".
Another expert who is featured in this year's event is Arthur Goldstuck, who will be talking about "Technology Trends".
In its fourth season, Moshito 2007 now includes an open day which will see the greater public take part in South Africa's only music industry conference and exhibition initiative.
The formal programme of Moshito 2007 includes several "Hot Seat" debates. These promise to be lighter elements offsetting heavyweight topics that are up for discussion and scrutiny this year.
