The Department of Arts and Culture is to intervene in the music industry, to ensure that new musicians have access to recording facilities.
Opening the annual music and music exhibition indaba, Moshito, at Museum Africa, Newtown in Johannesburg, yesterday, Arts and Culture Minister Pallo Jordan said his department had already embarked on an audit of recording facilities in the nine provinces.
"We are going to start a company that will put up recording facilities in the country's hot music recording spots.
"These facilities will be run by professionals who we will head-hunt from the ranks of the music industry," Jordan said.
