Free-to-air community television Soweto TV is to broadcast the new season of Big Brother Africa on Monday evenings.

Lucky viewers in and around Soweto can tune in between 8.15pm and 9pm.

Coincidentally, M-Net's reality show Big Brother Africa 2 was launched on August 5 to a continental audience.

Urban Brew spokesman Doulha Domingo said: "DStv has been kind enough to give us the highlights package at no cost."

The one-hour special that is normally broadcast on DStv on a Saturday night will now be aired on Soweto TV on Mondays.

Representing South Africa is 24-year-old Lerato. Other contestants are Tatiana, 26, of Angola, Justice, 23, of Botswana, Jeff, 23, of Kenya, Meryl, 21, of Namibia, Ofunneka, 29, of Nigeria, Richard, 24, of Tanzania, Maureen, 27, of Uganda, and Bertha, 28, of Zimbabwe.

Soweto TV will also cover a number of festivals and public events.

These include the Soweto Arts Festival, the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival and the Soweto Wine Festival. The grand opening of the Maponya Mall will also be covered.
