The tyre and rubber industry has concluded an agreement ending a protracted four-week strike by 6000 members of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa).

Members of the union were expected to return to work yesterday and today at six plants in Port Elizabeth, Durban, Ladysmith and Brits as the final settlement was concluded after the weekend report-back meetings.
