Turbulence grounded take-off on the much-publicised trip to the islands of Ibiza in Spain in the fantasy Axe Jet.
The "fantasy trip" jet was supposed to leave on Saturday, but sources told Sowetanthere was no money to fly everyone to the island. The jet was still in the country late yesterday.
When Sowetan spoke to Thato "DJ Fresh" Sikwane of 5FM yesterday, he said he was only grateful for the extra day he spent with his family.
He said he was not told the reason for the delay.
"I was told to be at the airport on Sunday at 4pm and that we are leaving in the evening," he said.
Sikwane was one of the local celebrity DJs, together with Roger Goode and Bad Boy T, billed to fly in the jet with the competition's ticket winners.
He said he did not know whether they would be travelling in "the jet" or on another airline.
Axe brand manager , Shren Moodley, confirmed the jet had not left and said they were exploring the option of flying guests on other airlines.
He did not want to say what was wrong with the jet. He was also elusive in his answers about the trip's budget.
"We will release a statement to the media," he said.
The organisers had promised party revellers, DJs and other personalities the time of their lives on the jet and on the island for the week they would stay there.
Not only were the guests going to be entertained by the DJs, but the Axe "mostesses" were also billed to entertain with their pillow fights and hula hoops during the flight.
The Sunday Times, in association with 5FM, Metro FM and Zoo magazine, were part of the campaign where men could win tickets to jet off on the newly-launched "AxeJet" to Ibiza, one of the world's party capitals.
Other celebrity guests included Noni Gasa, Thembi Seete and Lee-Ann Liebenberg.
