Nkosi tries again

McKeed Kotlolo

McKeed Kotlolo

The mayor of Govan Mbeki Municipality, accused of killing his deputy, is to apply for bail in the Evander magistrates' court today.

Sipho Nkosi, who has subsequently been suspended by the council, was arrested last week.

His first bail hearing was on last Friday, but the court was not prepared to continue because the state was not aware of the fact that he was going to make a representation to the court.

Nkosi was arrested on August 7 while attending the bail application of Sibongile "Sdudla" Lukhele, 32, the alleged mastermind in the murder of deputy mayor Thandi Mtsweni.

Nkosi was among the people who was to make representations to the court to deny Lukhele bail.
