Correctional Services said that “matters are under control” at Johannesburg’s Sun City Prison on Wed.
Rodney Berman and Eastern Cape boxing manager S'Phatho Handi have parted ways after 11 months.
Berman guided Handi's boxer Nkosinathi Joyi to the IBO mini flyweight title in November last year.
Handi said it was Berman who cut ties with them via print media.
"He told a journalist that the Eastern Cape government would not support him for Joyi's fights," he said. "Our contract had no such condition. Maybe Joyi should have left me for Nick Durandt to still be promoted by Berman.
"I mean, you cannot rule out Berman's influence on the departure of fighters from their managers to Nick Durandt, who is the only happy manager that works with him."
Berman refused to be drawn on the allegations. He said the Eastern Cape government failed to come back to him as promised. Berman announced his boxing bonanza for October 10.
He said it comprised three world title fights with Cassius Baloyi and Australian Gary St Clair featuring prominently in their fight for the number one spot in the IBF junior lightweight ratings. The winner will challenge the winner between champion Mzonke Fana and Javier Alvarez on August 31.
