BANGKOK - A depleted Team South Africa women's team received a free soccer lesson in the form of a 9-0 drubbing by Japan in a one-sided 24th World Student Games match at Thammasat University Stadium yesterday.
It was a well-deserved victory for the not so impressive Japanese team, who like South Africa and Chinese Taipei, are among the worst performers in this tournament. The comprehensive win over South Africa was the first here by Japan after five matches.
South Africa, who won only one match after beating Chinese Taipei 3-2 on Monday, went into this match with several key players nursing injuries and others suffering from stomach cramps. - Ramatsiyi Moholoa
