A bail application by the alleged mastermind in the murder of a deputy mayor in Mpumalanga resumes today.
Sibongile "Sdudla" Lukhele, 32, was arrested two weeks ago for allegedly planning the murder of Thandi Mtsweni, 43, of Govan Mbeki Municipality (GMM). Her bail application this past Tuesday in the Evander magistrates' court was opposed by the state.
Lukhele implicated GMM's executive mayor, Sipho Nkosi, in the murder. She said Nkosi had paid R30000 for the murder of Mtsweni.
Lukhele was described by investigating officer Inspector Difaga Malope as a "very dangerous woman" whose release might result in further killings and community chaos.
Malope told the court there were three outstanding cases against Lukhele.
The taxi owner allegedly approached by Lukhele and the three alleged hitmen are due to apply for bail next Wednesday .
l Nkosi's bail application has been set for Friday and his supporters are expected to protest his innocence.
This past Tuesday Onyeka Ikpechukwu, the deceased's brother-in-law, manhandled Nkosi inside the courtroom after the magistrate left the room.
He said Nkosi " sat next to me in court saying how much he sympathised with the family while he knew very well what happened".
