BANGKOK - Softball South Africa have decided to submit their bid for the International Softball Federation's biennial 2011 World Junior Women's Championships in Cape Town.

"The bid will be forwarded to the ISF by Softball South Africa on behalf of the Western Province Softball Federation," said SSA deputy president Noore Nacerodien yesterday.

"Our bid will be formalised at the ISF congress that I will be attending in Manila (the Phillipines) on October 25.

"We will make a presentation to the executive committee of ISF on the bid.

"We have no doubt that Cape Town will do well this time round, we are ready to host the world softball family," said Nacerodien, who is also the president of the Western Province Softball Federation.

SA's only successful global softball bid was when East London hosted the 2000 Men's Senior Championships won by Australia, which proved to be a major success. In Manila, it will be Western Province's second attempt to host a world tournament after losing to Beijing at the bidding process for the 2006 Women's Championships.

"It was our first bid but we are more exposed to the bidding process. The ISF also wanted to assess Beijing's readiness for the 2008 Games," said Nacerodien.
