Thirty-eight schools, as well as a team from the South African Development Board, will contest the international schools golf tournament at Sun City from today until Saturday.

The tournament, hosted by St John's College, will be played over four days at the two Gary Player- designed courses.

The event was won by Grey College of Bloemfontein last year and they will be taking part in the event again.

This year's field includes the largest representation of international schools and is the most competitive field that is hosted to date, with most of the strongest school golf teams in South Africa taking part.

All those who will be taking part have to be 18 or younger and must be full-time pupils of the school they represent.

The first opening holes will be played at the Lost City today, and tomorrow the event will be moved to the Gary Player Country Club. It will be played again at the Lost City on Friday and return to the Gary Player Country Club on the last day.

l West Orlando Golf Club has invited top golfers, businessmen and politicians to take part in their golf day at the Soweto Country Club in Pimville tomorrow. Among those invited are Andrew Mlangeni, Bantu Holomisa, Keith Kunene, Siphiwe Nyanda and Cyril Ramaphosa.
