The Gauteng Health Department has apologised to the family of a 14-year-old Diepkloof, Soweto, girl who claimed that a nurse slapped her in the face.

Dimakatso Sebati had alleged that a nurse at a Diepkloof dental clinic slapped her for no apparent reason last Tuesday.

In a statement yesterday, health spokesman, Zanele Mngadi, said the department had met Dimakatso and her mother Margaret, after the girl also complained that a broken tooth was left in her gum after it was extracted.

Mngadi said Dimakatso was re- examined to ascertain the allegations, and an X-ray revealed that the tooth had not been broken.
