In a surprise move, Harmony Gold Mining chief executive Bernard Swanepoel resigned from the company with immediate effect. Swanepoel has led Harmony for the past 12 years. The announcement came shortly before a trading update warned the company would report a headline loss. Shareholders were advised Harmony expected to post a headline loss a share of between R1,30 and R1,60 for the June 2007 quarter, compared with the March 2007 quarter headline profit of 58 cents a share. - I-Net Bridge
