The Umkhozi crew has meant to congratulate Kaizer Chiefs director Ratha Mokgoatlheng for his appointment to the bench for some time now.
He is from humble beginnings, the bespectacled one, but has always proven to be a go-getter.
As you all know, Ratha hails from Diepkloof. He sacrificed a brilliant soccer career and went to university where he became a lawyer.
But one day he came back to D/K. He wanted to start a law practice in the place he had grown up (to give back to the community).
The first day in his brand-new offices he saw a man enter the place. He desperately wanted to make a BIG impression on his first client so he grabbed the office phone and started talking on it ... pretending there was someone else on the other end!
"No. Absolutely no. You tell those clowns that I won't settle this case for anything less than a million!" Ratha barked into the phone.
"Yes. The Constitutional Court has agreed to hear that case next week.
"I'll be handling the big argument and the other members of my team will provide support!
''OK...Tell the state prosecutor that I'll meet with him next week to discuss the details!"
This call went on for about five minutes. All the while, the man waited patiently.
Eventually Ratha, sure that he had given the impression that he really was a BIG SHOT, slammed down the phone and said to the guy: "I'm sorry for the delay, but as you can see, I'm very busy. What can I do for you?"
The man replied: "I'm from Telkom; I've come to connect your office telephone line!"
Need we say more?
