Western Cape Premier Ebrahim Rasool should put service delivery and stability in the Western Cape ahead of the ANC's succession battle, the Independent Democrats said yesterday.
ID Western Cape provincial secretary Rodney Lentit was reacting to weekend media reports - denied by Rasool's office - that the premier was planning a major reshuffle of his executive.
The reports said the move was an attempt to bring much-needed stability to the party in the province ahead of the ANC's national conference in December.
Lentit said the challenges facing the Western Cape demanded a stable government. "It is clear that the ANC cannot provide such government and is more interested in chopping and changing simply to conclude a fresh truce between Rasool and ANC provincial leader James Ngculu," he said. - Sapa
