A meeting between UDM leader Bantu Holomisa and ama-Mpondo King Mpondo-mbini Sigcau has raised political tension in the former Transkei.
The local ANC branch says the visit was aimed at "influencing the king politically".
Holomisa visited the king at his palace in Qaukeni, Lusikisiki on Friday, saying his visit was to "pay homage to my king".
"I have known the king long before I became active in politics," said Holomisa.
But ANC chairman Jackson Sabona said Holomisa's visit to the king was "political".
"However, we are not worried about him and his UDM because it doesn't exist in our region," said Sabona.
