Dangers of cyber-love

I am 27 years old. I broke up with my boyfriend two years ago and since then I have not met a guy who really interests me. I've been lonely in the past two years, so a few months ago I decided to put my photo on to a local Internet dating site.

I am 27 years old. I broke up with my boyfriend two years ago and since then I have not met a guy who really interests me. I've been lonely in the past two years, so a few months ago I decided to put my photo on to a local Internet dating site.

Two months ago I started corresponding with a guy who lives in Mpumalanga. He is kind and sweet. We write to one another every day and speak on the phone daily.

I now think he's the one, and that I am falling in love with him.

He says he feels the same.

We have decided to meet and he is coming to Johannesburg to stay with me next weekend. I am so excited that I can't wait. Do you think it is possible to find true love on the Internet?

Romantic,

Johannesburg

How can you say you are in love with a photo and a voice?

Writing is easy and so is talking on the phone. You know nothing about this man. All you know is what he has told you. He could be a serial killer or even married.

The thing about Internet dating is that it is all smoke and mirrors.

I am not telling you to dump this guy, and I am not telling you that true love does not exist. What I am doing is warning you to tread carefully. Spend some time with this man before you decide he is the one.
