Auctioneer Chico da Silva faced a large number of buyers wanting generators, that included a Cummins 300kva, and a CAT 400kva.
Outside cars stood shimmering in the sun and Aucor had to call in extra car guards to give clients peace of mind.
One of the bidders, Emankwe Owandungu, a businessman all the way from Cape Town, said: "This sale is a sign of the times and of a country's national energy supplier not being able to keep up with demand."
Aucor general manager, Matthew Henderson said: "The market for generators at auction is growing fast because of the demand for alternative energy supplies.
"If you consider the loss suffered by small, micro, and medium enterprises due to black outs, these auctions are going to become even more popular."
The CAT 400kva fetched R220000 and the Cummins was sold for R180000. The other generators and woodworking equipment generally fetched very good prices.
