The Young Communist League yesterday called on the leadership of the ANC, the SACP and Cosatu to intervene in the protests that continues to ravage Khutsong.

Residents of Khutsong near Potchefstroom have embarked on a prolonged protest against the government's decision to incorporate the area into North West.

This week violence flared up as boycotting learners raided the local schools, dragging pupils out of classes.

In a statement yesterday the Young Communist League called on the tripartite alliance to convene an urgent meeting of all the stakeholders to find solutions to the impasse.

The YCL said the continued use of a school boycott as a tactic would harm the learners.
