Music enthusiasts must brace themselves for some thrilling entertainment at the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz when R&B singer Freddie Jackson shares the stage with Miriam Makeba.
The yearly event will happen from August 23 to August 25 at the Newtown Cultural Precinct in Johannesburg.
The Grammy winner will join international acts, The Count Basie Orchestra, Delfeayo Marsalis and the Clarke-Duke Project featuring Stanley Clarke and George Duke.
The local line-up has Dorothy Masuka, Thandi Klaasen, Letta Mbulu, Caiphus Semenya, Jonas Gwangwa, Stimela and Sipho Mabuse.
Jackson and Makeba will kick off the festival at The Jazz Dome on Thursday, August 23.
Jackson will join Mbulu, Semenya, Clarke and Duke at The Jazz Dome on August 24.
The US soul-singer is expected to sing his best-loved hits, Rock Me Tonight and You Are My Lady, which made him one of the most famous black male singers in the 1980s, along with Luther Vandross.
Jackson has composed many songs for himself and other artists including Whitney Houston, Melba Moore and Anita Baker.
He was trained as a gospel singer and sang in church from an early age. A consummate performer, Jackson has managed to stay focused and maintain his status as a pop icon.
