A sangoma has been arrested and will face a charge of murder.

This is after a woman died and her boyfriend was admitted to hospital after allegedly being administered an enema made from Dettol and washing powder.

Agnes Milaze, 45, and her boyfriend Jabulani Vick Songwe, 34, both from Pienaar in Mpumalanga, went to traditional healer Rodrigues Chilovane for consultation on Sunday over a sexually transmitted disease.

Police spokesman Chicco Nkosi said Chilovane then allegedly mixed Dettol liquid with washing powder and administered the enema to the couple.

"The woman died at the scene while her boyfriend is in a critical condition at Themba Hospital in KaBokweni," he said.

Nkosi said Chilovane, who is regarded as the best sangoma in the area, had previously healed the couple's teenage girl.

Chilovane will appear in court on a murder charge this week.
