One of two brothers charged with the murder of an 11-year-old boy and the attempted murder of his family in a night drive-by shooting was slapped with an additional two criminal charges in Welbekend, Ekurhuleni, yesterday.

Jan van der Walt, 34, who has been on R10000 bail, was arrested soon after he and his brother Jacobus van der Walt, 37, appeared in the Welbekend magistrates' court outside Kempton Park.

The two further charges are for the theft of a firearm and the shooting of two men in a separate incident.

Magistrate Marthinus Kruger ordered police to arrest Jan van der Walt after the prosecutor, Mpho Monyane, said he had not been formerly charged on the two counts. He will appear separately in court today.

Jan van der Walt was earlier granted R10000 bail for shooting and killing Moloantoa Mokoena, of Tembisa, and the attempted murder of five of his family members.
