Under its wing is the popular Decorex South Africa. which celebrates its 14th year. This year's theme is Embellishing Space. It takes place at Gallagher Estate from August 8 to 12, and 85 newcomers exhibiting the finest furnishings, finishes, kitchens, bathrooms and accessories are expected. All 650 exhibitors will adorn their stands with the best in decor elements.
If you think Decorex is one of the many extravagant shows created to leave people penniless, consider the employment and empowerment it gives to participants. Prices are also reasonably low and the best day for bargaining is of course the last.
Melanie Robinson, director of Decorex SA, says: "With South Africans spending more than R27billion on homeware every year, a bright future awaits the local decor and design industry, while consumers are spoilt for choice."
The first step to decorating a house is painting, so Plascon plans to unveil its colour forecast for next year. Anne Roselt, Plascon colour manager, predicts a palette brimming with many moods and emotions. They also plan to launch their magazine.
