In another twist involving the public protector’s office‚ the Minister of Co-operative Governance an.
"Back off, I am not interested."
This from gospel singer Hlengiwe Mhlaba who is under siege from pastors, abazalwane and sinners alike. They are lining up to ask for her hand in marriage.
According to Mhlaba, the success of her first album, Dwala Lami, which was followed by another hit titled Jesu Uyalalela, seems to be a magnet that has seen men falling over themselves pursuing her.
The 34-year-old former teacher, who says she has never had a man in her life, said she has since decided to put a ring on her ring finger.
"I call the ring a 'stop-nonsense'. When most men see it they turn away. A lot of them come for my money, cars and fame. Otherwise, how do you explain this sudden interest? When I was a teacher nobody wanted me, but now that I am doing well people want to marry me," she said.
Mhlaba, who became a born-again Christian in 1993, owns a house in a leafy suburb and five cars.
"I have a C270 Compressor that I got as a birthday gift from Amanxusa and a Jetta 5 2.0 TDI Sportline that was also a gift. I bought myself a Jeep Cherokee 2.8 CRD Sport, a Volvo C70, and an ordinary Golf," she said.
Mhlaba says it is not that she does not want to get married "but I have not met the right person with the right motives. Also, I am too busy to even think about marriage".
She said she is successful because she has lived according to God's principles.
"I will never lack anything as long as I live according to God's principles. I give 10percent of my income to God. Also, I am a very generous person," said Mhlaba who sported a Rado watch worth about R15000.
Mhlaba released her latest album titled Blessings in June this year but already sales are rocketing towards platinum status.
