One can well imagine how difficult it is to work as a journalist on a continent where press freedom has yet to take root. It goes without saying that to be adjudged the best on this harsh continent one needs to be made of even sterner stuff.
It is an indictment on African leaders that they exhibit the same attitude to the ideals of media freedom and open society as their erstwhile colonial masters.
Especially so when considering "new age" leaders' professed commitment to clean governance and democracy.
