Correctional Services said that “matters are under control” at Johannesburg’s Sun City Prison on Wed.
North West 2010 technical committee plans to rope in neighbouring Botswana into their structures as they prepare for the World Cup.
"We are serious about forming a partnership with our brothers and sisters in Botswana," said Kennedy Mosiapoa, a member of the committee.
"Right now the matter is still being handled by our political heads. It is only fair for us to partner Botswana because we have a lot in common with them.
"In addition, the proximity also plays a significant role because there are many Batswana doing business in Rustenburg and Mafikeng on a daily basis.
"There are many other citizens of Botswana who come to our towns for massive shopping sprees at weekends with their families.
"We would like to make it a real African World Cup by brining Botswana on board.
"We also know that Botswana has a good relationship with England.
"It will also be great to see Botswana luring countries like England to use their facilities for camping and training. That will also help boost the economy of that country," added Mosiapoa.
North West Premier Edna Molewa said at a recent World Cup conference at Sun City that the province was targeting more countries within the Southern Africa region.
Meanwhile, the Botswana government has also formed a task committee to deal with the preparations for the World Cup.
The committee is coordinated by the country's Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism, Kitso Mokaila.
