A win with bonus points for the Sharks against the unfancied Wildeklawer Griquas could see them catapulting to the second spot of the Absa Currie Cup standings.
The two meet in Durban tomorrow in the only game of the cup scheduled for the weekend.
Currently, the KwaZulu-Natal side are lying fourth on the log with five points from two games.
They are behind log leaders Cheetahs, with 15 points, while second and third-placed Blue Bulls and Boland Cavaliers respectively have amassed nine points each (all have played three games).
If they overcome the Kimberley side with bonus points tomorrow, the Sharks will increase their points to 10, thus moving to second spot.
Sharks coach John Plumtree has almost retained the same squad that thrashed Western Province 32-16 in Durban last weekend.
But flank Kegan Daniel will come off the bench to give way for flank Jacques Botes.
Said Plumtree: "Our opponents are a tough and unpredictable side. But my charges are ready to send them back home empty-handed and better our log position."
The Griquas started the cup campaign with a win over the Bulls at home but lost 10-51 to the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein last week. But Griquas are advised to improve their poor handling and disappointing lineouts if they hope to cause an upset.
l The Bulls face the Leopards in a friendly at Potchefstroom tomorrow and Western Province engage the Eagles. In another encounter tomorrow the Lions travel to lock horns with Border.
l In a provincial Women's League A Division match, Western Province take on Border in East London tomorrow at 3pm.
