Two brothers charged with the murder of an 11-year-old boy in a night drive-by shooting made their fourth appearance in the Welbekend magistrates' court yesterday.

Jacobus van der Walt, 37, and Jan van der Walt, 34, allegedly killed Moloantoa Mokoena of Tembisa and allegedly attempted to murder five members of his family.

They are also charged with attempting to kill two other men in a separate incident.

The attacks happened on the Bapsfontein Road in Mpumalanga on June 2.

Jacobus was earlier denied bail, but his brother is out on R10000 bail.

After twice unsuccessfully applying for bail, the elder brother said he was "no longer interested" and would remain in custody for the duration of the trail.

The siblings will appear on July 25 when they will be asked to plead.
