Details about the life of the 34-year-old woman who confessed to killing her two babies and burying them in her backyard are sketchy.
Nobody, not even her closest relatives, seems to know anything about the life of the loner who they say has no friends.
Sowetan visited her home yesterday and spoke to neighbours, her brother, uncle and father. All said she was a good-mannered and reserved person who had never had a friend.
She completed her matric in 1995 and had aspired to be a police officer, but was not successful.
An uncle who did not want to be named said she had worked as security guard and later joined Shoprite in Menlyn, outside Pretoria.
Colleagues refused to talk about her. Her manager at Shoprite did not want to discuss more about her, except to say that she was once on maternity leave.
Her devastated father, Joseph Seale, 65, said he could not believe his daughter had committed such a terrible crime.
"She and her two brothers stayed with me before moving to their mother's house in 2004. I never saw eye to eye with my in-laws, so they influenced them to move into their mother's home after her death," said Seale.
"I am shocked that she killed her babies and secretly buried them."
Her uncle, Solomon Show, 45, said the shocked family was trying to come to terms with reports that his niece had killed her two innocent babies.
"We did not even know that she was pregnant because she hid the pregnancy. I could not even tell when she was pregnant with her 12-year-old daughter," said Show.
"We did not know that she had been pregnant twice after the first child."
Her brother, Andrew Seale, 39, believes that his sister would not have committed the crime if their mother was still alive.
"She would have talked to our mother about her problems. She is the only woman in the house, therefore she had no one to talk to, other than the neighbour who helped her commit the crime," said Andrew.
"She successfully concealed her pregnancy by wearing oversize clothes. We want to know what drove her to commit such a terrible deed."
The mother of the slain babies and her two co-accused - her aunt, 48, and a neighbour - appeared in the Mamelodi West magistrates' court yesterday on two counts of murder and concealment of birth.
They were remanded in custody and will appear again on July 18.
