Things fall into place

The Free State government has expressed its happiness that the preparations for the City of Mangaung to host the 2010 World Cup were on track.

The Free State government has expressed its happiness that the preparations for the City of Mangaung to host the 2010 World Cup were on track.

"Everything is falling into place," said Joe Mafereka, the Free State MEC for local government and housing, who is also the World Cup political head in the province.

"We have been holding meetings of various subcommittees on a regular basis with all the stakeholders to ensure that we are within the time frames," said Mafereka.

Regarding their decision to rope Lesotho into their plans, Mafereka said they were still finalising all the logistics of having Basotho on board.

"The other thing that is delaying the process now is the political instability in Lesotho, but the premier [Beatrice Marshoff] will initiate another meeting."

The City of Mangaung announced last week that they have secured 7000 beds of the 20000 required by Fifa for the World Cup.
