Netcare 911 spokesman Trevor Putterill said the baby was found on Market Street.
"The baby was so tiny that our paramedics were unsure if there had been an attempt at an abortion or if the baby was born prematurely," he said.
Putterill said that it appeared the baby had been dead for some time. - Sapa
