Officials in Limpopo, engulfed by poverty and high unemployment, are opting to commercialise traditional recipes like mopani worms in an attempt to stimulate job creation.

Jonathan Mndawe, programme manager in the Greater Giyani Municipality, said they had started commercialising natural resources like mopani worms, bees and mushrooms. The first phase of the Greater Giyani Natural Reproduction Development Programme will focus on enterprise and capacity building. Mndawe said three primary cooperatives would be established in Dzumeri, 26km from Giyani.
