The overriding spirit of the Olympic Games is peace. In ancient Greece, even warring nations would lay down their arms while taking part in the games.

Next year's games is a new beginning for mainland China, especially since it has revised its attitude towards Taiwan's title of Chinese Taipei.

The international community is gradually forcing China to improve its policies and correct irrational behaviour.
