A 30-year-old woman from Masinenge in Margate, KwaZulu-Natal, is fighting for her life at Margate Hospital after she and her boyfriend were attacked early on Sunday.
Her boyfriend, Nkosi Mbulu, was brutally murdered in what police described as a gruesome murder attack.
Vivian Mlungumhle, a neighbour of the couple, said yesterday that she heard a noise but assumed it was a domestic dispute.
After the noise had died down, she went to investigate and found Mbulu in a pool of blood. "He was in terrible pain, and as I ran out to get help I saw a man dragging a woman away," she told police.
Police spokesman Superintendent Zandra Hechter said Mbulu had an open wound from the eye to the ear.
Hechter said on further investigating, police found the woman lying naked 150 metres from the house.
"She had bruises over her body, her left wrist was nearly chopped off and she had an open wound on the head," said Hechter.
Meanwhile, a man has been arrested after a 15-year-old girl, Nkululeko Mjaja, was found dead on Sunday morning.
Hechter said Nkululeko, of Harding, had visited her boyfriend on Saturday night but found him in bed with a woman.
She was later found half-naked with stab wounds. Her boyfriend has been arrested, said Hechter.
