English Premiership side Tottenham Hotspur will parade their best catch of the summer so far, Darren Bent, in South Africa later this month.
Spurs are visiting South Africa for a series of matches against local giants Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs in the pre-season Vodacom Challenge.
"The travelling squad has not been named yet but it will be the senior team, if that helps you. In all probability, Darren will travel with the team and play in South Africa," assured the Spurs press office yesterday.
The office also confirmed that England international defender Ledley King will not travel with the team as he is still recuperating from knee surgery.
Bent scored 15 goals last season as Charlton battled in vain to avoid relegation. That figure, including 13 league goals, came despite a two-month spell on the sidelines and took his tally to 31 in the top flight (37 in all competitions) in two seasons at The Valley.
Spurs have lined up two friendlies before touring South Africa.
They take on Conference National League side Stevenage Borough on Sunday and Irish Premier Division side St Patrick's next Friday.
The local teams are back at training but no official friendlies have been lined up ahead of the challenge.
Spurs are expected to land at the OR Tambo International Airport on July 19, address a media conference before a connecting flight to Durban for their first clash against Kaizer Chiefs at the King's Park Rugby Stadium two days later.
Soccer supporters will watch this year's series at a cheaper cost after one of the associate sponsors, PEP, stepped in and slashed two-thirds off the original ticket price.
The full fixtures are: July 21 - King's Park: Spurs v Chiefs; July 24 - Newlands: Spurs v Pirates; July 26 - Port Elizabeth: Pirates v Chiefs; July 28 - Loftus: Pirates/Chiefs v Spurs.
