The kidnap and assault case against Jackey Maarohanye and three members of the Ithuteng Trust was yesterday postponed in the Protea magistrates' court in Soweto.

Maarohanye, 49, Ronnie Nyakale, 34, an actor of Yizo Yizo fame, Patricia Molaba, 34, and Thembi Dladla, 21, made a brief court appearance for the alleged assault and kidnapping of Sowetan reporter Vusi Ndlovu on February 17.

Maarohanye and her co-accused are alleged to have detained Ndlovu for several hours and assaulted him when he went to interview Maarohanye at her controversial Ithuteng Trust school in Pimville, Soweto.

All the accused, who were arrested a few days after the alleged incident, have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The trial could not proceed yesterday because interpreters and machine operators were unavailable.

The case was adjourned to August 16.
