Reports that taxi drivers are commandeering Putco buses, pulling passengers out and forcing them into taxis on one of the main roads in Johannesburg are shocking.
More disturbing are claims that a Putco bus driver under attack this week drove to Johannesburg's Bramley police station for protection only to be told to come back the following day.
Though we condemn these illegal actions by the taxi drivers, the police too should be rebuked for their apparent indifference to the plight of commuters and Putco drivers.
