Radebe to address youth

Former Bafana Bafana and Leeds United captain Lucas Radebe will be the guest of honour at Grey College in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

He is set to deliver a motivational talk, addressing youth representing their teams at the First National Bank Schools Soccer Festival Under-19 boys' tournament.

Radebe's invitation forms part of the ambassadorship initiative with the sponsoring bank.

He is set to highlight among others, the significance of education and sport in terms of changing one's life positively.

It will be Radebe's second visit to the school's development tournament held yearlyy by Grey College during the winter school holidays. Radebe's first motivational talk was in 2005.

Grey College's principal, Johan Grobbelaar, said Radebe had impacted positively to the lives of several youngsters since his first visit to the school.

"We are very happy to have Radebe again as our guest speaker. He is a role model and several youngsters look up to him," he said.

Radebe's success story in football and rise to prominence in professional football dates back when playing for Kaizer Chiefs. The soccer festival officially starts on Thursday and will climax on Sunday with the presentation of awards after the final.

The action-packed tournament features 16 top schools teams in the country. They will compete on a knockout basis to decide the quarterfinalists, semifinalists and the finalists. The winners will receive gold medals and a floating trophy and the runner-ups will take home silver medals. The third-placed side will receive bronze.
