Former Welkom Stars coach Molefi Ntseki is set to take over the reins as head coach of National First Division newcomers African Warriors.

Ntseki had a successful stint as head coach of Stars, presently known as Real Hearts.

He guided the side from the Vodacom League to the NFD and had two successful seasons with Stars, owned by Dick Nkuna.

Ntseki is currently the development head coach of Virginia-based Harmony Academy in Free State.

He joined the Academy shortly after cutting ties with Stars, who were relegated in the 2003-04 season.

Sowetan reliably learnt that negotiations were at advance stage between Ntseki and Warriors' managers under the leadership of co-director Jabu Khumalo.

Khumalo would not shed light on the issue of the coach but said that official announcement would be made in the week. An informed source also told Sowetan that current head coach Meshack Tsotetsi, who guided the team to the new league, would be assistant coach to Ntseki.

Meanwhile, Warriors are likely to sign defender Tebelo Hlabedi from Bloemfontein Young Tigers, and former Under-23 midfielder Abram Nteo and Aaron Lepele from Bloemfontein Celtic to bolster their ranks for the NFD.
