This if the South African Sport Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) does not withdraw its "threat" of sending a 50-50 racial quota team to the Olympic Games next year.
"Sascoc's threat not only embodies the abuse of athletes and sport for political purposes, but will result in blatant discrimination against athletes on racial grounds," AfriForum chief executive Kallie Kriel said yesterday.
Kriel said in a letter to Sascoc's president, Moss Mashishi, that AfriForum wanted a withdrawal to be published in the media within seven days.
This follows statements made by Sascoc to the parliamentary sports committee, that sport federations were informed that only teams which complied with Sascoc's racial requirements of a 50-50 ratio would be sent to the Olympic Games in Beijing next year.
Kriel said: "The international isolation of South African sport is in the interest of no one and I hope Sascoc will reconsider its reckless threats." - Sapa
