KSA backs karateka

Cass Sehloho, Karate South Africa (KSA's) interim president, says they are fully behind local karateka who are currently competing in the second WUKO World Karate Championships in Valencia, Spain.

Cass Sehloho, Karate South Africa (KSA's) interim president, says they are fully behind local karateka who are currently competing in the second WUKO World Karate Championships in Valencia, Spain.

"These karateka belong to KSA and we should rally behind them in their quest to do the country proud in Spain," Sehloho said.

"Though it would have been proper for them to inform us about their parti-cipation, I don't blame them because we also have had problems of our own before the unification two weeks ago.

"I assured Moss Mashishi [president of South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee] that everything is fine."

Mashishi initiated the unity talks between the two karate bodies that led to the establishment of KSA.

The tournament in Spain started on Monday and finishes next Thursday (June 28). - Mcelwa Nchabeleng
