Timing is key to conceive

I have had a few queries asking about how one falls pregnant. You would think it would be easy - what can be easier than sperm and egg meeting each other?

I have had a few queries asking about how one falls pregnant. You would think it would be easy - what can be easier than sperm and egg meeting each other?

But it is not uncommon for a healthy couple to try for many months without success. The key to the problem is the timing of intercourse.

Conception can take place only during ovulation, which gives a window of about three days. Hard work and stress can mean that the crucial time is missed, and the next chance will be given in only 28 days or so.

It is important to make sure you have sex around the time you ovulate.

Some research has shown that the best time for intercourse in order to conceive is on days 10, 12, 14 and 16 (in case of late ovulation). This data is based on a 28-day cycle.
