I support the PSL's new deal with SuperSport, though most South Africans don't have decoders. My problem is that the SABC's sports coverage is pathetic.
The so-called SABC sports experts are clueless and their inability to analyse sports exposes them. Paying for TV licences has not improved the coverage of soccer. The SABC also screens old and cheap American movies.
Many skilled people left the SABC because of the continued political interference.
Women empowerment at the SABC has also resulted in the appointment of many women sports presenters and soccer analysts.
I always ask myself if these women are qualified enough to do the job or were just appointed to maintain gender equality? I am all for empowering woman, but the empowered women are also expected to deliver.
I would advise them not to comment on sports issues they know nothing about because their analyses get too obvious. I do not see value in their analyses.
The same goes to former players who do sports analysis on SABC - they also have to be eloquent and impartial.
The PSL and the Mvela League will make profits out of the SuperSport deal. The SABC failed to do that.
