There will be no rest for some school rugby players in the winter recess as they prepare for tough Coca-Cola Youth Weeks next month.

Fourteen South African Rugby Union provinces and country districts will take part in the eagerly awaited competitions at different venues in July. Namibia and Zimbabwe will also send their teams to this year's tournament.

Mervin Green, Saru's game manager, said they were expecting more than 1500 aspirant young rugby players to battle it out for glory.

The four Coca-Cola Youth Weeks cater for the Under-13, -16, and -18 categories. The Coca-Cola Under-16 Grant Khomo Week and the Saru Under-18 Academic Week will be staged in Durban and Polokwane from July 2 to 6.

The Coca-Cola Under-13 and Coca-Cola Under-18 Craven Weeks will be staged in Krugersdorp and Stellenbosch from July 9 to 14.

"Capping ceremonies and the handing over of playing kit in the respective age categories will begin in the 14 provinces this week and culminate [finish] towards the end of June," said Green.
