The case of Annanias Mathe, the Mozambican national charged with escaping from Pretoria's C-Max prison, was postponed in the Pretoria magistrates' court yesterday.
The case was postponed to July 16 to "centralise" all the charges against Mathe.
Mathe, wearing a light brown jersey and grey trousers, looked in better health than at previous appearances and at times even managed a smile.
His feet were shackled and he was also handcuffed. Mathe, 31, also faces 76 other charges.
These include 16 charges of housebreaking with intent to steal, theft, three charges of indecent assault, four of robbery, two of attempted rape, attempted housebreaking, unlawful possession of housebreaking implements, 12 counts of malicious damage to property, two counts of corruption, theft from a motor vehicle and two counts of escaping from lawful custody.
Mathe gained notoriety after he escaped from C-Max Prison in December.
