Nigerian striker to jump ship

Nigerian striker Patrick Ogunsoto says he is thinking about turning his back on the Super Eagles to play for either Belgium or Greece.

The 24-year-old is yet to play for Nigeria at any level, which means that as long as he fulfils the necessary requirements he is still able to play for any country.

He has been overlooked by current Super Eagles coach Berti Vogts despite finishing as the second highest scorer in Belgium last season with 20 goals for Westerlo.

"I'm thinking I'm going to play for Belgium or Greece, because when I get my European passport I can play for any country I want to," he told BBC Sport.

"But Nigeria is my country and I want to serve my country.

"There's no player who doesn't want to play for his country, but everything takes time and maybe my time has not come and surely my time will come.

"Everyone has had the same opportunity such as Obafemi Martins, Yakubu Ayegbeni and Stephen Maki-nwa. They are all good players - we have good strikers.

"You have to wait and I'm praying to God that my time will come." - BBC
