Steven Pienaar, the ace Bafana Bafana midfielder who plays in Germany, is ploughing back into the community of Westbury, where he was born and bred.
Also known as "Schillo" in local soccer circles, Pienaar has organised a development tournament in Westbury this weekend.
The Westbury Community Tournament starts tomorrow as part of the Youth Day celebrations and will end on Sunday.
Mike Ntombela, Adidas soccer marketing manager, has confirmed their involvement in the event as part of their technical sponsorship to Pienaar.
"We are delighted to be part of this tournament organised by Schillo, which is also in line with our nation-building projects.
"It is great to see more and more professional soccer players doing something for the communities they come from," said Ntombela.
Pienaar could not be reached for comment.
l Prominent soccer personalities from Limpopo have joined forces to help in the development of the sport.
They will embark on a road show at schools in Giyani, Malamulele and Hlanganani, starting on Monday, as part of their social responsibility.
Those who are part of the project include David Mathebula (Kaizer Chiefs), Collins Chabalala, Tonic Chabalala (Orlando Pirates), December Ngobeni (Silver Stars) and referee Victor Hlungwani.
"We will be doing motivational talks because we want to see more youngsters from Limpopo featuring in the paid ranks in football," said Hlungwani.
"We are well aware that teachers are on strike, but learners are always there in schools. We have already made the schools aware of our visit.
"The roadshow will end on June 24 where there will be a match between Magaza All Stars and Vhembe XI at Malamulele Stadium.
"All Stars' players include Tonic, Collins, December, David and myself. Rudzani Ramudzuli and Mulondo Sikhwivhilu will be part of the Vhembe X1.
"These are community projects on our part, we feel all of us should make a contribution now that the soccer season is over," said Mathebula.
