Movie star Samuel L Jackson (pictured) fears he's slipping into dementia.

The Pulp Fiction star has a history of memory-erasing Alzheimer's disease in his family and has started taking steps to give his brain daily workouts.

He explains: "I'm getting older and there are things I used to know that I don't know any more. I'm disturbed by that.

"When I walk in the room and I don't know why I walked in there, something is really starting to fuck with me. I'm having that issue but I'm doing more crossword puzzles - to keep my mind stimulated."

Meanwhile, Jackson was lucky to make it to adulthood - because all his childhood illnesses and ailments were treated by a local witch-doctor in Tennessee.

Jackson reveals his parents were keen to avoid hospital trips at all costs - and, instead, employed the services of The Root Lady.

"We didn't go to the hospital because we figured they weren't gonna see us anyway. The Root Lady would actually come over and put very stinky stuff on you and chant.

"She would take herbs and we bought chickens off the trucks and when you killed them she got the heads and feet and she did stuff with them." - Wenn
