The news that parliament's standing committee on public accounts (Scopa) has launched a probe into the awarding of a R408million tender for the controversial eNatis project is a welcome development.

Having taxed the public's patience for weeks on end, the controversial electronic National Traffic Information System (eNatis) had no doubt become something of a liability though the Department of Transport might beg to differ.

Of public interest though is the outcome of the assessment of the procurement process, the integrity of which is now in question.
