MBABANE - "To me, from me," said Cape Town's Peter Karmis, whose emphatic one-stroke victory gave himself the best birthday present ever in Swaziland yesterday.
The 26-year-old first round leader held his nerve in a tension-fraught final round that nearly culminated in a sudden-death play-off to become the first winner of the inaugural Lombard Insurance Classic in Swaziland.
Karmis produced a flawless eight-under-par 64 at the Royal Swazi Sun County Club for a winning total of 16-under-par 200 to collect the first prize worth R55,475 and the specially designed glass trophy.
But it was a day of further celebration for Karmis, who also clinched his maiden pro title. - Sapa
